Our Vaccine Philosophy

At Needham Pediatrics, we firmly believe in the safety and efficacy of vaccines to prevent serious illness and to save lives.   We consider vaccination to be one of the most important aspects of the healthcare we provide.

Vaccines are not controversial within the medical and scientific communities. Every vaccine we use has been carefully studied, and each of the vaccines is proven to be safe. There is strong published scientific evidence demonstrating that vaccines do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities. There is also strong evidence that vaccines are safe in combination. Research studies have shown no benefit to splitting up or delaying vaccines.

At Needham Pediatrics, we follow the standard vaccine schedule published by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. We do not recommend delaying or breaking up the recommended vaccines.

Patients and families who prefer not to follow the recommended vaccine schedule will likely find that Needham Pediatrics is not a good fit.  If you're a prospective new patient / family looking for a pediatrician who supports alternative vaccine schedules, we encourage you to look elsewhere.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have concerning this important aspect of your child's health.
